Healthcare rights of migrants
Asylum seekers: Are entitled to free public health care if they do not have the means to support themselves. They have to apply for a medical card at the Ministry of Health, or the General Hospital in their district in order to have access to the public healthcare system. Note that asylum seekers are not covered by the General Health System, and thus cannot access personal GPs.
Refugees: Are entitled to healthcare under the same conditions as Cypriot nationals. Healthcare is received under the General Health System (GeSY).
Undocumented migrants: Can access emergency care free of charge. They may also access primary and secondary care in return for payment of the full cost.
HIV testing and treatment
Testing: Testing is free and anonymous for all. It is provided at the disease-control governmental centres in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca.
Use the aidsmap European test finder to see where you can get tested for HIV.
Treatment: Treatment is free for Cypriot and European citizens only.
